Writing instruction emphasizes development of content by using the five step writing process (brainstorm, rough draft, revise, edit, publish a final copy). Children are exposed to all aspects of writing, including organization, voice, word choice, sentence fluency, conventions, ideas, and content.

Students write in a variety of voices, such as expository, narrative, persuasive, and poetic.
